Due to the community need demonstrated by our last free series of GYROTONIC® sessions, ARCOS has expanded the program for 2020: eight applicants will receive four private sessions each with ARCOS director Erica Gionfriddo to explore the GYROTONIC® Method, a movement modality that works the entire body through traction, “opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences.” (More information at the link.) ARCOS’ choreographic approach is inspired in part by the principles of GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®, and these methods can support everyone from professional dancers and physical theater performers to anyone in recovery from injuries or experiencing chronic pain. See the application for eligibility and more information.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Jan 28
Please answer all application questions below completely, to aid in determinations of applicants who demonstrate a combination of health-based and financial need. Independent professional dance and physical theater artists will be prioritized over applicants who have greater access to affordable treatment opportunities through an employer or school. Participants will be announced by February 5.
This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division
of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
