Alexa Capareda, a classically-trained contemporary dance artist, studied in the Philippines, Ballet Austin, École Supérieure de Ballet Contemporain, and in the professional programs of Springboard Danse, Hubbard Street, and Northwest Dance Project. She has performed works by Gioconda Barbuto and Jean-Louis Morin in Montreal and Libor Vaculík and Jirí Kylián at Mário Radačovský’s Balet Bratislava. She received third prize at the Festival of Choreographic Miniatures in Belgrade. In Austin, she has worked with Andrea Beckham, Magdalena Jarkowiec, and the award-winning companies Jennifer Hart’s Performa/Dance and ARCOS. She teaches at Ballet Austin and is the staging/rehearsal assistant for Ballet Austin II.
