Catherine Cabeen
, MFA, is an artist and teacher. Cabeen has received choreographic commissions from On the Boards, Donald Byrd’s Spectrum Dance Theater, Seattle Art Museum, Gallery Galleon in Vieque PR, the Visa2Dance Festival in Dar Es Salaam, Alsarab Dance Company in Byblos Lebanon, and Texas Women’s University, among others. The New York Times called the work of Cabeen’s interdisciplinary performance company, Hyphen, “highly kinetic, complex… visually exquisite,” and “beautifully performed.” The New York Times, May 13, 2011.

Cabeen is a former member of the Martha Graham Dance Company and the Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company (1997-2005), among others. She now performs in her own work and with Richard Move, with whom she has worked since 2006. Cabeen is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Marymount Manhattan College and a repetiteur for the Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company.

Cabeen has received support for her choreographic work from the Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, 4 Culture, The Washington State Arts Commission, the National Performing Network Creation Fund, and The Bernstein Foundation.
