Eliot is a multimedia artist and teacher from Santa Fe, New Mexico. He received Bachelor’s degrees in Film Studies from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, and Documentary Studies from the College of Santa Fe, and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Arts at Goddard College in Port Townsend, WA.

As a multimedia artist, Eliot performs variously as video producer, pianist, composer, sound designer, playwright, and director. He has composed music for film, theater, and dance and has written eleven original theater productions with music, many of which he also directed. Among these shows are several melodramas, performed at the Engine House Theater in Madrid, New Mexico, and the Santa Fe Playhouse, where he also serves on the board of directors. His audio-video projects include ethnographic fieldwork with Yaqui natives in Mexico, a documentary about the impacts of a hydroelectric dam in Brazil, dance videography for INTERDANSA in Spain, and immersive, interactive video projections and sound design for ARCOS’ multimedia performances. Throughout Eliot’s diverse work, thematic threads recur: cross-cultural interaction and communication, the turbulent process of traditions in flux, and the influence of institutions on people.

Having taught at the college and secondary level, Eliot considers the process of actively engaging with student artists as an essential element of his practice. He designed the curriculum for, taught in, and served as coordinator of the Certificate Program in Documentary Studies at the College of Santa Fe. While working to build capacity and sustainability for Youth Media Project as an AmeriCorps VISTA, Eliot taught students from high schools across Santa Fe the art of radio production. He currently teaches at Santa Fe Prep School, where the courses he offers include Video, Journalism, Film History, Animation, Photography, Radio, Multimedia Lab, Remixes and Mashups (exploring intellectual property law and art), and Choral Ensemble. Most recently he was awarded, along with his ARCOS co-directors, residency at three prestigious programs for the 2014-2015 season: Playa Fellowship Residency (OR), UCROSS Foundation (WY),  and the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts (NE).

As Multimedia Director of ARCOS Dance, Eliot propels the company’s inventive integration of new media and compelling dramatic narrative into performance.
