Katie HopkinsKatie, from Arlington Heights, Illinois, graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance, with a concentration in teaching and performance, as well as a Minor in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management. Before attending Columbia, Katie was also a dance major at the University of Iowa for two years. Katie has performed in works choreographed by Mark Morris, Joe Goode, Shirley Mordine, Susan Rose, Colleen Halloran, Emily Stein, and Becca Lemme. She has studied with artists such as Darrell Jones, Liz Burritt, Taisha Paggett, and Paige Cunningham, and has participated in workshops with Bill T. Jones, David Dorfman, and Kathleen Hermesdorf.

Katie has been teaching dance and color guard for three years, most recently, choreographing for and teaching the 2011 World Champion Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, where she also performed as a member for four years. The 2011 title earned The Cadets their tenth championship. Katie also taught the Marian Catholic High School color guard for three years, during which they earned the 2009 WGI Scholastic Open Class Championship. Katie is invested in maintaining a high level of physicality and authenticity with movement through performance, teaching, dancemaking, and improvisation.
