The Dance Artist Development Award is a microgrant toward artistic development and professional training for dance artists.

We are interested in supporting artists who are passionate about learning as an ongoing process throughout their lives. While many arts grants focus on tying their support to specific creative products, the DADA provokes consideration of the process of growth and expansion in setting out to learn something new. The award intends to support activities which would push your personal practice beyond your routine and, ideally, require you to pursue guidance or training from your broader community.
Contemporary artists can and should seek such opportunities for development from diverse sources, including mentors or peers, formal courses or workshops, and self-study. If you are a working artist in the middle of a project, what skills would you want to sharpen in order to complete your work? How might pursuing those skills shape your view of yourself as an artist in your community?
